Dr. Ravi Patel my oncologist is one of the most interesting and giving people I have met. He is compassionate and a geniunely kind soul. I have met many physicians and have had lots of treatment and surgeries and he is one of the extrodenary. He is always looking to better the health and lives of people he meets.

How did you learn about Links for Life?
I was raised believing in God and I believe he places people in our lives for many different reasons. So I met Stana Bright while having chemotherapy cocktails  a combination of very toxic medications. I met her at a time when my health began to deteriorate rapidly. I was suffering from congestive heart failure after about 8 chemo treatments. Stana  understood many things I began to experience emotionally and physically because this was not her first time fighting this vicious disease. She became a great friend that helped me more then she knew at a time of such vulnerability. She introduced me to other young survivors and Links for Life support group which are family to me now. I soon realized she led the breast cancer support group as the president. Links for Life is an amazing non profit organization made up of many people that are passionate about the health of our community. A lot of work is put into Gala’s and events to raise money “I would say to save lives”.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Growing up there was four of us girls and I was into gymnastics and dance ironically I was a bit of a Tomboy in our neighborhood.  Back then I wanted to be a gymnist or dancer. Later in life I wanted get into the medical or dental field.

Who had the greatest influence on you during your childhood?
My grandfather made such a impact on my life I still find myself reminiscing about the good old days. Back when there were no seat belts so we would sit on his lap in the truck to pull it up the driveway when he got home from work. My grandfather had interesting stories of the war and places he had been things that he learned in other countries. He was a hard worker a automobile mechanic, he built a home for his family the things he did were self taught he read many books to learn to do anything he set his mind to. He built all of us grandchildren a merry go round with cars to sit in like at the fair. We were all so excited to help with that in doing so I realized the math and reading he would have us do in so many of the projects he had us work on over the years. He demonstrated so much love in coming home from a long day and singing  and playing the harmonica, guitar and piano he showed me music books and encouraged me to learn instruments. My grandmother showed us how to cook she made the best mexican food everything homemade and it was delicious! I can’t say enough about how much I love my grandparents.
